Stepaside Educate Together Secondary School Extracurricular Activities
Since opening in September the following extracurricular activities have been established, and are currently up and running in our school:
- Language Club
- Art Club
- After School Home Learning – teacher assisted
- Athletics and Cross Country
- Music Club
Stepaside Educate together offers Soccer for both boys and girls, with training weekly on a Wednesday from 1.30 to 2.30.
Languages Club runs every Monday for 30 minutes where students get the chance to teach and learn other languages and cultures from around the World.
After School Homework Learning:
The afterschool Home Learning Club is facilitated for a small fee for students on a Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 4.14 to 5.15. This provides the students with an opportunity to complete their homework in a positive learning environment. It also allows them to gain valuable help and advice from the tutor supervising.
Art club is offered to students every second Tuesday after school allowing students to express themselves. The club is a hub for students who love arts and crafts. It also hopes to expand in the near future incorporating knitting and crocheting, in particular participating in “A Knitathon” for the homeless.
Athletics and Cross Country:
Running is a huge part of Stepaside Educate together It is led by our languages teacher Sallie Ennis. Athletics and Cross country running is open to all students, and is held every Thursday after school for one hour. The students intend to participate in the Marley Park run, charity events such as Darkness into Light and the Athletics events held in Morton Stadium, Santry, in the coming months.
Artistic Performance is another aspect we endeavour to develop in our school. The Music Club runs every Tuesday for 30 minutes, where students sing and create musical pieces of their choice. This club hope to develop further, incorporating public speaking and drama also. We hope to have a show later in the year where the students can display their talents.
The Extracurricular Activities in Stepaside ETSS are constantly growing, and we hope that they will continue to expand as our school grows. Computer Coding, Basketball, GAA, Drama, Poetry Aloud, Dance, Breakfast clubs with Yoga and Reading are some examples of many activities we hope to develop in our school in the near future.
